One of my favorite things about doing family photography is when you find that joke, that silly face, that game - whatever it might be - that really gets you to connect with the kiddos. Then, I not only feel like I got my job done, but I also made a tiny friend (or friends). I don't think I could ever go back to wedding photography after spending so much time with these awesome families, their unique and delightful children, and the joy that comes from all of it. Thank you al
Every photo shoot brings it's own unique-ness. Especially when you have kids involved...which is most often the case with family photography. Sometimes the kids loooooove the camera. They can't get enough of it. Sometimes they're just embarrassed that it's there. And every once in a while, you have that kid who would rather curl up in a ball and die than be photographed. Now, as a family photographer, I've gotten pretty good at getting kids to come out of their shell. I've go
I feel like every time I hang out with these people, I get a time of good friendship...and also a comedy show! Oh my goodness, my abs hurt so much from how much I laughed! So much fun! Thank you guys for a great night enjoying our oddly warm weather and beautiful sunshine! #capitolhill #downtownsaltlakecity #saltlakecity #saltlakecityphotographer #family #familyphotography #outdoorfamilyphotography #utah

You never know how popular a photography spot is until you show up at Golden Hour on a Saturday night! Goodness sakes alive! But it was quickly forgotten when we started taking pictures and I got the visit and connect with this wonderful family! And who couldn't connect with a cute baby like this around?? She was easily the center of attention with good reason! But who could forget Man's Best Friend? I always love it when the furry friends join the shoot! Thank you guys for h
Gosh, I can't tell you how much I love taking pictures for the same family year after year...the kids grow up so much, and when I edit the pictures I can't help but be flooded by memories of when I did the NEWBORN pictures for them! AHH! It's such a bizarre and awesome feeling to watch these kids grow so much! The real joy is when you take pictures long enough that they get to the stage where A) They actually say "HI!" to you when you arrive on site and B) They actually smile
It was a such a beautiful night (albeit a bit chilly) to get some beautiful shots of this beautiful, soon-to-be family of 3! Such fun talks about babies, photography and everything in between! These guys are just so much fun to be around and I can't wait for her to take our family photos in the Spring!! You're the best, Mandy! I can't wait to meet this little dude soon!! #maternityphotography #maternityphotos #snowbasinresort #ogden #utah #familyphotography #youngfamily #outd
Those last few weeks of pregnancy are absolutely the WORST....so close, yet so far...but this lady handles it with style, poise and grace! It's so exciting to be so close to welcoming another little boy into this wonderful family! I can't wait to get those newborn pictures up for you all (or, as Faith would say, "Y'all" ;) ) - hopefully only a couple more weeks and we will meet that sweet little guy!! How many votes for a Redhead?? Anyone feel like taking a guess? ;)
You know, I am a total lake snob. I'm from Michigan. Don't try me, Utah, you won't be able to make the grade.
....however. That "Great" Salt Lake, with those mountains of Antelope Island, with that sun setting...and this gorgeous family...all I can say is, "Wow." Okay, maybe I still wouldn't swim in it, but it does make for an incredible photo shoot.
What an amazing way to end the summer! I am so thankful we got to spend this gorgeous evening in this gorgeous sunlight.
I remember when I first took pictures for this family...it was just the two boys and they needed school pictures. We took them at a park and then their mom and I ended up talking for a bit afterward....suddenly, the boys started screaming and running (never a good sign) and it didn't take us long to realize that the eldest one had inadvertently found a wasp nest! So we all booked it in the direction of the car, trying to leave the wasps in our wake and not get stung. We didn'
